Note Taking Method to Memorize Them Faster (Hint: Make them Cute!)
It’s really hard to study when all your notes look the same, not to mention, it’s flat out BORING.
What if I told you there’s a simple method to make taking notes more fun?
Not only will this strategy make cuter, more enjoyable notes, but they’ll also be way easier to memorize!

Step one: organize your notes into sections
Sectioning out notes is essential to help you memorize them. By making an effort to categorize each bit of info, it makes you understand it on a deeper level than just simply writing it down in the order it was told to you.
Any sort of visual cues like this will help your brain make associations subconsciously, and it will, in turn, help you absorb the material faster.
Creating categories is not the only way to organize your notes in a way that helps your brain, though. Once you have them all neat and tidy, decide on some other categories of topics within those sections.
Step two: make sub-categories clear
Colour-coding notes is one of the easiest ways to keep sub-categories subconsciously organized. It’s often unfeasibly time-consuming to just create a million lists of info with varying categories. Colour-coding allows you to make these sections clear without continually re-writing your notes in different orders.
For example, in history class, you might have a list of important things that happened during one calendar year. To add colour into this scenario, try the following:
Make everything that happened in France blue.
Make the name of every important human green.
Make the key documents and signed treaties, etc. yellow.
Make new vocabulary words pink.
By making your notes colourful and fun, you’re also making them easier to memorize
When things are sectioned off in this way, your brain will make associations without you even knowing. It’ll get used to seeing a specific word in blue, so you’ll keep thinking of blue when you see that word…and then you’ll easily remember it must’ve happened in France!
You’ll also be able to scan your notes quickly for certain things. For example, if you want to make sure you review all the important people, you can go through everything in green, and you’ll know that you covered everything!
When you make your notes this clear, it makes them easier to study from AND it lets your brain do some of the work for you…so some of the memorization will happen without even trying!
So, are you telling me that just by making things colourful, it’s going to somehow miraculously make my notes cute and fun?
Ummmm…..yes? Reading from a rainbow of notes is certainly much more fun than plain-old black and white! Don’t limit yourself to just colour-coding everything, though, if you want to make things even MORE fun.
Insert some clip art at the beginning of each section. Add some google images to your notes. Write your headings in a font that makes you smile.
Anything that makes you enjoy looking at your notes is worth a bit of extra time!
